Normal Operation - When the Quick to Neutral (Neutralizer) switch is off (closed), the Lock to Neutral switch is off (closed), and the Park Brake is off, the Transmission allows shifts out of neutral.

The Transmission does not allow shifts into a gear due to a possible failure in the Quick to Neutral, the Lock to Neutral or the Park Brake Neutralize feature. These features may include the following programming:

→Neutralizer Switch Installation - Installed (ECM J1-43), designates if the Quick-to NEUTRAL switch has been installed.

→Lock to Neutral Switch Installation - Installed (ECM J1-42)

→Parking Brake Neutralization - Installed

#Neutralizer (Quick to Neutral)

The Neutralizer or Quick to Neutral feature, provides the ability for the operator to quickly shift to neutral. When this switch is activated, the Transmission will immediately shift to neutral regardless of operating conditions. Once the Transmission is in neutral, the operator must press the "N" button on the Shift Selector in order to make the desired gear NEUTRAL before the Transmission will shift out of neutral. If the desired gear is not NEUTRAL, the Transmission will not shift out of neutral.

1). Verify that the Quick to Neutral switch is closed and the feature is off by viewing the status for the Neutralizer Switch in the Cat ET/ ECM J1-43 = Quick to Neutral (N/C).

Select Drive/D on the Shift Selector

→Shift Lever Position = 1F

→Actual Gear = 1F

→Transmission Neutralizer Status = Off

2). Neutralizer (Quick to Neutral) active

Simulate the OPKO/OPSD system, or try to push the Quick to Neutral button (if equipped).

→Shift Lever Position = 1F

→Actual Gear = Neutral

→Transmission Neutralizer Status = On

3). Flashing Desired Gear

→The desired gear value will flash (refer to Figure 1.1 above), and the Transmission will not shift into the selected range.
→Press the "N" button on the Shift Selector in order to make the desired gear NEUTRAL.
