Connect to Micro Motion using Service Port and Modbus RTU (8-bit) - ProLink III

Prolink III

Figure 1.1 - Calibration Data (ProLink III - CP v3.30/ T050 Sensor)

#Procedure:

(1). Service Port

b). On the Prolink III start up screen, select Connect to Physical Device.
Figure 1.2 - Connect to Physical Device

c). On Connection Parameters, set Protocol to be used for the connection. In this case, we used Service Port, set Serial Port to the PC Port (for example, I'm using USB to Serial ATEN/ COM6 at Device Manager, and Black Box RS-232 to RS-422/RS-485 to Core Processor).

d). Select Connect (using Default set Baud Rate, Parity, and Stop Bits).
Figure 1.4 - Connecting to Device (Service Port)

NOTE: On Micro Motion device, wire directly the Core Processor screw terminals (for example, 4-wire cable), as below.
1 (+) = VDC +
2 (-) = VDC -
3 (A) = RS-485A
4 (B) = RS-485B

e). If connection is successful, will displays information as below:
-Device tab the transmitter type, address, and alarm status for connected device.
-Process Variables view, provides quick access to the process measurements.
-Other Process view: Inputs, Diagnostic Variables, and Enhanced Events.
-Device Status, view active alerts for the connected device, and easily view recommended actions for troubleshooting each alert connection.

(2). Modbus RTU (8-bit)
Today, I was trying to using Transmitter (Messumformer) Micro Motion 1500 (Model: 1500D3AABBEZZX).

a). On Connection Parameters, set Protocol to be used for the connection. For now, we used Modbus RTU (8-bit) protocol, and set as below:
Protocol = Modbus RTU (8-bit)
PC Port = COM6
Baud Rate = 9600
Parity = Odd
Stop Bits = 1
Address = 1

b). Select Connect.
Figure 1.8 - Connecting to Device (Modbus RTU/ 8-bits)

NOTE: On Micro Motion device, wire the Core Processor screw terminals, and Transmitter 1500, as below.
#Core Processor:
1 (+) = to pin 1 Transmitter 1500
2 (-) = to pin 2 Transmitter 1500
3 (A) = to pin 3 Transmitter 1500
4 (B) = to pin 4 Transmitter 1500

#Transmitter 1500:
-Supply 24 Vdc = pin 11/ 13 (+), pin 12/ 14 (-)
-RS 485 = pin 33 (RS-485A), pin 34 (RS-485B) to Black Box RS-232 to RS-422/RS-485 (USB Serial ATEN). Download here: Installation Manual: Micro Motion Model 1500 and Model 2500.
